Arabic Food Festival at Avari Towers

Bringing authentic flavours of exotic Arabic cuisine to the town, Avari Towers recently hosted a three day Arabic Food Festival and if you follow me on any of my social medias you'd see me raving about it because the food was actually SO GOOD!

Now coming to the menu, it starts with a mezze platter that will give you a little taste of what's to come, main course and dessert.

Mezze is a popular way o start a meal in the Middle East. It can also sometimes be an entire meal. Our mezze platter had Eggplant Dip (Babaghanooj), Spicy Walnut Dip (Mohammara) which I must mention was a hit! Chick Pea Dip (Hummos bi taheha), Tabbooleh, Fattoosh, Arabic Bread (Khoboz Araby), Keshkeh, Samboosek. The dips were so rich and flavourful I just didn't wanna stop eating.

Then comes main course. We were served Shawerma- Chicken, Kabseh (Saudia Arabia) Mesakhan Chicken, Kabab (Shish Tawook), Stuffed Zucchin i(Koosa Mehshi), Zucchini and Yoghurt (Shiekh Elmehshi), Chicken and Rice (Rez bel jaj), Eggplants and rice (Makloobet betenjan), Lamb Chops.

Loved the idea of how you could customize your own shawarma. My favourites were Mesakhan Chicken and Lamb Chops. I also tried Stuffed Red Bell Pepper and it had minced meat and rice inside, so flavourful!! And Shish Tawook was just amazing as lemon and garlic brought a burst of flavor to it.

Also loved sumac onion which I think was like a secret weapon for elevating these dishes.

In desserts we were served Home made Arabic Cream (Kushta), Baklawa Pastry, Basboosah (Hareeseh), Katayef  and Umm Ali.

Umm Ali is basically is an Egyptian sweet pastry pudding. My mum makes it at home and I love it! Katayef is a sort of sweet dumpling filled with cream or nuts. Delightful and rich, the desserts were divine!

Arabic Food Festival at Asia Live is a buffet for 2700PKR plus tax per person. Children from the age of 5 to 10 years will be charged half. For more details, visit their Facebook page.
