Telenor Fahion Pakistan Week 2015 - Day 1 and Day 2

Telenor Fashion Pakistan Week, the biggest fashion event in Pakistan, has officially wrapped. The four-day event began on 31st March at the Pearl Continental Hotel in which Pakistan's designers, both established and new brands, presented their Spring/Summer collections for 2015.

I'd like to congratulate the whole team of FPW and the designers for making the event huge and successful. As it is quite a long post, I'm breaking it into two parts. The first will be covering Day 1 and Day 2, while the second part will cover Day 3 and Day 4.

Not much of a fashion critic but here are the reviews of designers and some of the moments that I think deserve a second look.

DAY 1:
Designers: Nida Azwer, Bank Alfalah Rising Talent, Lala Textiles, Sania Maskatiya, FNK Asia, Madiha Raza and Sadaf Malaterre

Opening Day 1 was Nida Azwer, showcasing her line 'The French Trellis Collection'. Subtle hues with hints of pink, her collection was an amalgamation of sheer fabrics with print and embroidery featuring capes, crop tops, lenghas, saris and trousers. Her designs were all about contemporary Eastern aesthetic.

Next was Bank Alfalah Rising Talent's collection. It comprises of four young designers, Hasan Riaz, Momal Zia, Rimsha Shakir and Shehza Azhar.

Lala Textiles's "Electric Summer" was a great hit on the runway. Although the cuts could have been kept a bit simpler, with fine cotton fabric and delicate embroidery, the collection was enjoyed by many.

Sania Maskatiya's Khayat, a collection of vibrant colours, gorgeous prints and detailing but nothing different from what we haven't seen from her before in terms of cuts. But one of the best collections of the night.

After the break it was Fnk Asia's "Freedom Collection" that mostly comprised of crisp whites and some solid colour outfits. The bohemian range had pretty interesting detailing.

Madiha Raza, who won everyone's heart with her award winning Flight of Birds range in TFPW 14, this year showcased her line "The Spring Myth", a beautiful mishmash of everything floral but not as good as her last year's in terms of clarity. Maheen Khan as her showstopper was one of the moments of the night.

Sadaf Malaterre closed the show with her stunning collection. Chiffon, net and silk soft pink wrapped gowns, layered gowns with chocolate brown highlights and pearl beads, spring collection can not be represented in a better way!

DAY 2:
Designers: Amir Adnan, Sanam Chaudri, Jafferjees, Abdul Samad, Zaheer Abbas, Caanchi & Lugari, Gul Ahmed and Fahad Hussayn

Day 2 began with Amir Adnan's "Shah Zadeh" which was an Iranian-inspired menswear collection. Earthy colours and fancy embriodery, the collection featured sherwanis and coats mainly intended for weddings.

Sanam Chaudri's line comprised of layered, draped cuts complemented by belts and embroidered trousers. With very fine detailing, it was a gorgeous formal collection.

Next up was Jafferjees bag collection. The colours used were vibrant and beautiful but the bags weren't really fashionable. The models displayed the bags while using the dresses of Wardha Saleem.

Abdul Samad menswear collection "Uptown Funk" featured monochrome and some bold colours outfits. The collection emphasized on western and contemporary trends.

Shezad Roy and Hassan Rizvi also walked for the designer.

After the break Zaheer Abbas's "Primavera" collection featured a variety of cuts. From gowns to capes to jackets, the collection was outstanding. The predominantly white collection had touches of gold and multi coloured embroidery. Undoubtedly he was the best of the night.

Next up was Caanchi & Lugari with their "Bugatti" collection. Portraying a European legacy, polo shirts and trousers, their collection was not appreciated by some.

Gul Ahmed's Avanti, despite being the second all white collection of the night, wooed the audience. The fabrics used were lawn, chiffon and silk. With a variety of techniques and cuts, the collection had its impact.

Fahad Hussayn closed the show with his bold "Dominionatrix Decoded" collection that comprised more of couture than luxury pret, featuring heavy embellishment and dramatic styling.
