THE BODY SHOP - COLOUR CRUSH LIPSTICK

Colour Crush Lipstick

I usually associate TBS with skincare, but after reading so many reviews about their lipsticks I decided to go for one and see for myself.
What The Product Says:
The Colour Crush line of TBS has 26 different shades, all belonging to the pinks and plums family. They all promise to give you luscious, moist lips with bright, natural colour. Each lipstick also
comes in a variety of finishes, with some being matte, while others have increasing amounts of shimmer.

The shade I have bought is 205 Passionate Pink. There is no label on the tube, just the number.

The lipstick contains:
  • Triisostearin - an emollient that helps lock in moisture
  • Hydrogenated Polydecene - another emollient
  • Isocetyl Stearate - a conditioning ingredient that also helps your lipstick apply smoothly
  • Mica - improves the color opacity of your lipstick
  • Sweet cherry oil - moisturizer
  • Tocopherol - antioxidant

Colour:
It appears bright pink with hints of coral in it in daylight, while in artificial lighting it looks like a bright neon pink.

Texture:
There is a mix of both lightly pigmented and super saturated colours. The lipstick goes on smoothly and does not feel thick and cakey. It is very moist, hydrating my lips instead of making them look dry and cracked. One thing you can count on from this range is they are super moisturizing. They glide on like a balm and don’t give you that scrunched up, dried out around the edges look. Although some shades are so sheer you really have to layer the colour on to get any real stain on your lips.

The shade I have leaves a sparkly finish and I have to apply it twice to get the desired colour. It has a light rosy scent that does not irritate me. My lips feel soft and smooth after using this lipstick.

Finish:
The Colour Crush line has three types of finishes:
Matte (lasts longer), Pearlescent and Shimmery/Sparkly (both do not have much colour payoff).

Passionate Pink gives me a smooth luminous finish and does not settle into the fine lines of my lips. However this lipstick covers light pigmentation and it is impossible to hide high pigmentation.

Staying Power:
The glossier, sheerer shades wear off more quickly. This shade stays on for about 4-5 hours. But after that the glossiness disappears and what is left on the lips looks more like a lip stain. If you wear it for long hours you might need to re-apply it 1-2 times.

Packaging:
It is a sleek silver tube with a cap that matches the colour of the lipstick shade within. I find the packaging both pretty and functional.

All in all I found TBS Colour Crush Lipstick okayish. I prefer lipsticks with a more matte finish and full coverage. You have to re-coat to get the actual shade. It doesn't hide the pigmentation that well. With the price I paid for this lipstick, I expected a bit more.

Pros:

  • Bright and beautiful shade.
  • Hydrate lips and does not dry them out.
  • Does not settle in to fine lines or make lip lines visible.
  • Travel-friendly.
Cons:
  • You expect it to last longer on your lips.
  • You expect it to hide high pigmentation.
  • You find it pricey.
My Rating:
3.5/5

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick costs PKR 1300 and can be found at all TBS outlets across the country.

  1. Honestly, I was not impressed by color crush lipsticks. They don't stay long. I agree with your review. I can get a better lipstick for half the price.
