The Body Shop - Born Lippy Pot Lip Balm - Strawberry
My Review:
Born Lippy comes in a small clear plastic pot with a twist off cap with a fair amount of lip balm in it. The packaging is quite eye catching. On the bottom of the pot there is a peel up label offering an ingredient list. The pot is cute but some of you might find it unhygienic as it sticks to the finger and will require you to clean it every time you apply.
It has a fruity strawberry flavour and fragrance which is quite strong if you smell directly from the pot but when you put it on your lips it smells light and floral.
The colour in the pot is very reddish/pinkish but on application it's quite a sheer shade. Colour payoff can be built up by applying it in a thick layer or in several thin layers. This shade, devoid of shimmer, gives a glossy finish. I get pretty short wear from it - an hour or two. It is transfer prone, but also seems to sink into the lips a little.
I find the formula quite thick. It is a dense but lightweight gel that feels slightly sticky. It is okay if you have smooth and moist lips that are not extra dry otherwise the moisture isn't so great. It is not hydrating in the way a true balm should be. I prefer using it as a base for my lip colour or over a lipstick for extra shine.
Overall, I find this balm okay-ish. I like the smell and taste. It gives my lips a nice glossy look, but doesn't moisturize them much. It is more of a gloss than a lip balm. I just use it as a natural looking gloss on days when I'm not wearing any make-up.
Pros:
- Gives a natural looking pink sheen.
- Makes lips soft and shiny.
- Smells and tastes amazing.
- Not sticky.
- Works quite nice under lipsticks.
- Travel-friendly
- Good quantity.
Cons:
- Dries out pretty quickly.
- Not hydrating enough.
- Does not give the exact colour.
- Doesn't last long.
- Unhygienic packaging.
- Pricey.
My Rating:
3/5
