Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit - Review

What The Product Says:
The best-selling, easy-to-use palette contains three highlighting and three contouring powders that work together to help you sculpt, define, and enhance your natural features. Create the illusion of higher cheekbones, a smaller forehead, a softer jawline, or a slimmer nose with these soft, silky formulas that can be applied as subtly or dramatically as you like.
My Review:

Contour kits are currently quite hip. And luckily I was able to get me the very famous Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Medium. It has a simple packaging. It comes in a cardboard palette. The individual shades are in metal pans that pop out. I would have liked to have seen a mirror on it tho.

Anyway, there are total 6 shades in every palette that can be used to conceal, brighten, correct and contour -three highlight shades (top row) and three contour shades (bottom row). Medium palette’s shades are Banana, Cream, Warm Coral, Nude, Cinnamon, and Chocolate.

I have a combination skin (oily T-zone) and a near to wheatish skin tone so I have explained each shade as it appears on my skin. You might have a difference experience because the shades appear differently on different skin tones and types.

Banana: I use this shade for highlighting purpose. Use it under my eyes and it brightens very well.

Cream: Another highlighting shade but it doesn’t show up on my skin.

Warm Coral: Definitely not a highlighter but works great as a corrector. If you have dark pigmentation or dark eye circles like me, this would suit you well.

Nude: Supposedly one of the contour shades, but I find it too light for that dramatic contour effect. If you want to keep your look natural you can use this as it is more of a toned down peach corrector shade with a hint of orange.

Cinnamon: Again a lighter shade to be used as a contour colour if you like that defined dark contour so may be just like Nude you can use it when you don’t feel like going out with a heavy look. But it is definitely darker than Nude.

Chocolate: This is a deep brown shade with a warm undertone and adds definition to the skin. I love using this deep shade to sharpen my contour under my cheekbones to make them pop! Love it!

I really like the contour shades for my skin colour. You only need to use a small amount since they are quite pigmented so the tiniest bit goes a long way. Easy to blend, smooth consistency and looks flawless on skin. Good coverage and conceals really well.

If you have dry skin, you might need to moisturize because creams dry down fast so adding a bit of moisture will get the blending job done easier. I also found that if you mix a small drop of facial oil with the product and then use it, it becomes super blendable.

The only problem is, it isn’t available in Pakistan and you have to order it online. Otherwise, I am quite pleased with the product. I enjoy this palette for special occasions when I want a defined or sharp look and it never fails me.

Pros:
  • Super creamy and blendable.
  • Great pigmentation and coverage.
  • Packaging is nice and compact.
  • Can use the contour colors as transition shades.
  • Refillable pans.
  • Travel-friendly.
Cons:
  • Some shades are very light to show up in the palette.
  • Availability is an issue.
  • Pricey.
  • Wish it came with a mirror.
My Rating:
3.5/5

  2. looks amazing product but the price is something that is on the downside. There are numerous other brands available in low price with good results. So, IMO price and good results go hand in hand :)
